This is the first in a series of monthly blogs showcasing great social enterprises from around the world. For our first ever 'Social enterprise of the month' we are heading around the world to Australia. 'Who Gives a Crap' does not only have one of the best names in the social enterprise universe but does amazing things with one of life's least talked about household essentials. For this alone they should be applauded! Who they are: Who Gives A Crap was started when they learnt that 2.5 billion people across the world don't have access to a toilet. That's roughly 40% of the global population, meaning that diarrhoea related diseases fill over half of Sub-Saharan African hospital beds and kill 1,400 children under 5 every day. Launched in 2012, 'Who Gives a Crap' aims to make difference. With support from the public through a Crowdfunding campaign, they raised $50,000 and began production in March 2013. Where are they: Somewhere in Australia. What they do: They produce toilet roll and distribute 50% of their profits to WaterAid projects. Why we like them:
