Who are they?
This month we head to far west Canada and into the world of fashion. What has fashion got to do with social enterprise I hear you ask? Well this is fashion to end violence. My Sister’s Closet is a social enterprise of Battered Women’s Support Services which support over 10,000 women every year. Revenue generated from the sales of clothing help fund violence prevention and intervention services operated by BWSS. Where are they? My Sister’s Closet is based at 1092 Seymour Street in Yaletown, Vancouver, Canada. What they do? My Sister’s Closet sells beautiful new and second-hand clothing. Revenue generated from sales of clothing help fund violence prevention. My Sister’s Closet is a community boutique and a space for the community to come together to end violence against women and girls. Why do we like them? They advocate zero waste, eco-fashion and enable people to access all sorts of clothing. They also support local women artisans by giving them retail space and promoting their work. This contributes to their financial independence and growth of artistic expression. To find out more visit their Facebook page: CLICK
