Who are they?
Beach Schools South West are a community interest company dedicated to outdoor learning for children wherever they are, but particularly by the sea. Where are they? They teach on the beaches of South Devon. What do they do? Tied into the National Curriculum their sessions comprise maths, geology, geography, arts, nature. While having fun on the beach building dams, dens, shelters and lighting fires, children learn about health and safety in a coastal setting, tidal forecasts, lunar cycles, the effects of seasons, ecology, geomorphology, beach management and conservation, coastal flora and fauna, practical skills and the ethos of Beach Schools. Why do we like them? They are passionate about getting children outside and inspiring them through a day at the beach. A day at the beach in school hours. If only they’d been around when we were at school. Find out more: CLICK
