Iridescent nominated for national award

We have been nominated for the national ‘Making a Mark’ competition run by the Social Enterprise Mark. The prize recognizes the impact made by social enterprises across the country. The award is decided in Strictly Come Dancing style with half the points based on a public vote and half from a panel of expert judges.

Gareth Hart, Director of Iridescent Ideas, said: “It is great to receive national recognition like this and it goes to show that a small business, like us, can make a big difference.

"We’ve been working hard to help people in Plymouth and the South West set up and run successful social enterprises and to make Plymouth one of the leading cities for social enterprise in the UK.”

Richard Cobbett, Assessment Manager at the Social Enterprise Mark, said: “Iridescent Ideas has shown the difference and impact they make in simple, easy to understand terms.

“They give their stakeholders – in this case, fellow social enterprises – a clear idea of their scope and ability to make a difference for them and, through them, for the wider community of Plymouth.”

Voting lasts until the 27th May and the winner will be announced at a national conference in Manchester in June. Other well-known businesses in the competition include The Eden Project and Cockpit Arts.

The shortlist has been selected from the network of over 200 social enterprises accredited by Social Enterprise Mark CIC. The competition highlights examples of how accredited social enterprises are creating considerable social impact within their local communities and in wider society.
