Our vision is a social enterprise economy. So we created The Forerunner Prize with the aim to inspire the next generation of science and tech entrepreneurs to consider starting a social enterprise.

About The Forerunner Prize
The Forerunner Prize provides an opportunity for anyone to develop a tech-led business idea that has a good cause (i.e. social enterprise). The idea will solve problems and make a positive impact in the world.
Our focus in 2016 was on the following areas:
The Forerunner Prize winner received £1,000 cash to help develop their idea. We also provided mentoring and business support. The winners also received specialist help from our partner organisations which will include research, marketing and branding, financial advice and access to a wide range of networks. The total prize package was worth around £5,000.

- Environmental technology
- Space industries
- Advanced engineering
- Nanotechnology
- Other science, technology or engineering related ideas
